17th century to early 19th century. Will explore development of their
form and where examples of these building types survive today.

Workshop will describe basic structural varieties of barns, and provide

9:00AM - 2:00PM VISIT TO A MADISON COUNTY FARM
Children will experience farm life at Critz
Farm in Cazenovia. There the children will experience farm life
complete with a tour , demonstrations, hayrides, and other activities.
Fee for activity is $25 and includes transportation to Critz Farm in
Cazenovia, lunch and snack. Registration is limited to 30 children ages
5-12. (Children will be divided into two age groups 5-8 and 9-12.) Parents
are responsible for their children when they return around 2:00. Parents

9:30AM - 3:30PM HISTORIC BARN TOUR
Madison County lies in the heart of regional barn types. The tour will
cover a variety of barn forms and historical periods, including hop
kilns and 19th and 20th century dairy barns, etc. Fee for tour is $30,
pre-registration is required. Tour open to all. Conference participation
is not required to partake in tour.
DIRECTIONS
Directions to: White Eagle Conference
Center, Hamilton, NY:
Albany and all points East:
Either take I-90, NYS Thruway to the Utica Exit. Follow the directions
for 'Utica and points North,' or follow I-90 to I-88 (Schenectady) towards
Binghamton. Travel I-88 to Duanesburg and Rte. 20. Follow Rte. 20 W to
Madison, turn left at the four corners onto County Rte. 83( South St.)
for 3.5 miles. White Eagle Conference will be on your left. Approximate
travel time from downtown Albany - 2 hr.15 minutes
Utica and points North:
Follow Rte. 12 to Junction Rte. 12B in New Hartford. Follow Rte. 12B through
Clinton to Rte. 20. Take Rte. 20 W to Madison. Turn left, at the four
corners onto County Rte. 83( South St.) for 3.5 miles. White Eagle conference
will be on your left. Approximate travel time from downtown Utica-
45 minutes
Syracuse and points west:
Take I-90, NYS Thruway East to exit 34 (Canastota). Turn left onto Rte.
13 South through Canastota to Rte. 5. Travel on Rte. 5 East follow to
Rte. 46 South for approx. 14 miles to the intersection with Rte. 20. Take
Rte. 20 East to Madison. At four corners turn right onto County Rte. 83(South
St.) for 3.5 miles. Approximate travel time from downtown Syracuse
and airport 60 minutes
Binghamton and points South:
I-81 North to exit 6 ( Rte. 12) (Chenango Bridge-Norwich) Travel on Rte.12N
to Rte. 12BN to Hamilton. After the third traffic light go straight onto
Madison St, leaving Rte. 12B. White Eagle is 2.5 miles ahead on the right.
Approximate travel time from downtown Binghamton 90 minutes

and their preservation. To attend, please use the registration form below.
Conference seating is limited. Please register early by completing the
registration form below and mailing it with your payment to the address
listed below. The Sunday historic barn tour is also limited, advance registration
is required.

The registration fee is for the conference on Saturday, October 26 and
includes conference materials, lunch and coffee breaks. The bus tour of
